Captains Drive-In

April saw Julie Rose and Peter Burdess get the 2019 season underway at the Captains Drive-In. Impressive drives from both with Julie reaching 191 yards and Peter a whopping 287, some say he had 3 Weetabix for breakfast that morning.

COURSE RECORD

We go back to June when the pro’s came to town for the Brancepeth Castle Pro Am, however it was an amateur that shone on the day, Andrew Minnikin with a fabulous course record matching 63 in the morning round.

County Mixed Foursomes

Into September we got success for both ladies and men when Marianne and Ally Baird made their way to the County Mixed Foursomes final, Ally would be joined by Lyn Davison in the final where they came out victorious in a tightly contested match.

Men’s Team Double

?In June they won the North Durham League 5 Man Team Championship at Durham City Golf Club. The second success came in August when we retained the Division One championship, a huge congratulations to all the team players.?

Something New

?In August our newest addition was unveiled, no not the new Brancepeth Boar statue but the mighty impressive new practice facility. Graeme Storm was our ribbon cutter and also received an honorary membership?.

Simply Amazing

?At the presentation night, Marianne Moore was presented with an 'Outstanding Achievement Award' after winning the Brancepeth Ladies Club Championship for the 20th time in 2019... TWENTIETH!

Woods' year just keeps on getting better

Tiger Woods led his U.S. team to a dominant display on Sunday in the singles to overhaul the Internationals and make it eight straight Presidents Cup victories.

Trailing 10-8 at the start of the final days play, Woods put himself up first and came away with a 3&2 win over Abraham Ancer - which proved to be the catalyst for an American rise.

Eight of the twelve points available on Sunday were dispatched by the U.S. to take victory 16 -14 in Melbourne despite the Internationals looking dangerous all throughout the competition.

Patrick Reed also earned a little redemption by defeating C.T Pan 4&2. This was despite his caddie getting banned from the tournament for pushing a fan who was heckling Reed earlier in the competition.

Wood’s win over Ancer was also a record-breaker as it was Tiger's 27th point he has achieved in the Presidents Cup, one more than Phil Mickelson’s previous record of 26.
